Sensors and Integrated Electronic and Photonic Systems for people and Infrastructures Security
The Complex Project “Sensors and Integrated Electronic and Photonic Systems for people and Infrastructures Security” – SENSIS will develop new sensors, new integrated electronic and photonic systems for detection of explosives used in terrorist attacks or accidentally released in military bases or industrial sites.
SENSIS is contains four distinct projects, called “components”, which are converging to the Project goals by detection of explosive substances and increasing the security of people and infrastructures:
The project will deliver the sensors and integrated systems, along with the energy micro-harvester, as physical objects and technologies, functional and laboratory- and real environment tested, scientific papers and patents.
SENSIS is financed by UEFISCDI (www.uefiscdi.gov.ro), within the Complex Projects in RDI Consortia (PCCDI) Programme, “Information and communication technology, space and security” domain.
SENSIS will run over a period of 39 months, between March 2018 and May 2021.
SENSIS is developed within a consortium made of six research organisations (two national R&D facilities, two universities, one Institute of the Romanian Academy and one research centre of the Romanian Armed Forces):
Centre of Scientific Research for Defence, CBRN and Ecology of the National Defence Ministry (CCSACBRNE)
www.nbce.roSENSIS will organise the workshop „Sensors and Integrated Systems for Security and Health Applications” on October 11th 2019, within the International Conference CAS 2019. For more information and registration options, please see https://www.imt.ro/cas/.
A training session was organised on November 23rd and 26th 2018 at IMT’s premises. Dr. Mircea Modreanu (Tyndall National Institute, Cork, Ireland) presented “Materials for sensors and energy harvesters – Deposition and characterisation techniques”. 16 persons from within the project team (from 3 institutions) attended the training.
On October 12th, 2018, SENSIS co-organised the workshop “Microsystems for Energy Harvesting and Environment Monitoring” within the CAS 2018 Conference, in Sinaia http://www.imt.ro/cas/programme.php
